1940s True New Look Couture Parisian Cashmere w/ Velvet Princess Coat by “Maison Ernest Cognacq”
1940s True New Look Couture Parisian Wool w/ Velvet Princess Coat by Maison Ernest Cognacq, 27 Boulevard des Capucines
A true relic of the late 1940s new look era, from the very city where it started, Paris France! This piece is so unbelievably gorgeous. Original late 1940s inky black luxurious cashmere beautifully tailored princess coat with velvet and chord details. This was a couture piece, made for a specialty department in one of the highest end department stores in Paris back in the 1940s. Fully lined in black satin, closes at the waist with a large fabric covered button. Super nipped defined wasp waist with four princess seams on either side of the front, as well as the back. Large dramatic winged collar. Front hip pockets with gorgeous detailing, please see the photos. Extremely full skirt. Checks off all of the new look era signature marks. Hand detailing throughout. I simply cannot say enough about this piece, it is one-of-a-kind and absolutely gorgeous.
