Couture 1960s Yves Saint Laurent Column Gown w/ 3D Confetti Heart Sequined Hem
An extremely special piece. This piece was sourced from the original owner, and it came in its YSL original box with matching cape.
Documented A/W 1964 couture “Yves Saint Laurent Paris” inky black wool column gown with 3D heart sequined hem. Couture hand details throughout, fully lined in silk. Side metal zipper on both the gown and slip underneath. Left shoulder fastens closed with hidden hooks and eyes. The back on the gown has a sewn in weight. Slim statuesque fit. The wool has a soft somewhat nubby texture, really lovely. The sequin hem is padded and the sequins are metallic gold hearts and clear red lucite hearts. This gown was originally paired with the matching cape that we have for sale as well. You can see both pieces sketched on the original couture sketches pictured in #2. Museum worthy, a true couture time capsule. A collectors piece for the discerning vintage lover.
