Rare 1940s Hawaiian Designer “Gladys Williams Honolulu” Hand Printed Crane Motif Silk Crepe Sarong Dress & Shawl
Aloooooha! “Gladys Williams of Honolulu” strikes again… I have NEVER seen this one before. Original 1940s rich berry red silk crêpe strapless hourglass draped Hawaiian sarong dress and matching long shawl with hand printed metallic gold flying cranes and bamboo motif by designer “Gladys Williams Honolulu.” Bodice has built in structural boning and fully lined in the silk crepe as well. Back metal zipper with hook and eye closure. Sweetheart strapless bodice with princess seaming, nipped defined wasp waist, and wrap style draped sarong skirt that ties on the hip. Total hourglass silhouette. Comes with the matching long shawl, can be worn so many ways. The cranes and bamboo motif is hand printed in metallic gold paint. Extremely well done. A very rare piece for the Hawaiian connoisseur that fits like an absolute dream.
Mint condition, size small to medium, accommodating a 34 inch bust, a 26/27 inch waist, free hips, and the skirt length is 31.5 inches total length. Please note, this piece has a large amount of seam allowance on all of the seams, could easily be let out 5 inches on all of the measurements.
