Rare 1930s Hawaiian Maxi Gown by “Lei Lani”
A truly spectacular and especially rare piece of 1930s Hawaiiana. I am so in love with this piece, I sell a lot of vintage Hawaiiana and I have never seen one this elegant and old in age. And of course I love that the print has little crescent moons! I keep thinking how perfect it would be for the holiday season. Original 1930s Hawaiian cold rayon with luxurious rayon liquid satin maxi dress by “Lei Lani - Made and Styled in Hawaii.” Extra long hidden metal zipper up the front. Can be worn unzipped as low as you would like. The bodice is tailored like a blouse, with the pointed collar, pleated puffed shoulders, and large lantern sleeves with the fitted wrists that fasten with a mother of pearl button. Nipped defined waist and of course that gorgeous flowing full maxi skirt. The ski skirt has the most amazing movement, literally like liquid, and it is completely cut on the bias. This is such a glamorous piece, definitely reminds me of old Hollywood, something that you would have seen Rita Hayworth wearing.
The bodice is a café mocha cold rayon crepe with the cream and midnight blue palm trees, ukuleles, pineapples, crescent moons, and little crabs! The skirt is a deep midnight blue rayon satin. Just absolutely gorgeous, a rare piece of Hawaiiana indeed.
Excellent condition, size medium, accommodating a 36” bust, a 30” waist, up to 61” hips, and 54” total length.
